Chef and Partner Javier Vera Alarcon
Javier Vera Alarcon, from Lima Peru graduated with an „Industrial Engineering" degree in Lima in order to satisfy his parent’s wishes he should first get a higher education in keeping with the rest of the family tradition However, soon after graduating, he decided to follow his passion and open small restaurant in Lima where he met a young woman from Vienna who would soon become his future wife.
They moved back to Europe and Javier enrolled at the Culinary School at Cordon Bleu where he graduated as best from over one hundred students. Within the next several years, he worked with many highly-decorated chefs in Lima, Paris and Vienna including "Mraz und Sohn" in Vienna ,and restaurant "Maido", currently the best Nikkei restaurant and number 8 in the list of "50 Best Restaurants" in the world. His love for Peruvian “Nikkei” Cuisine fascinates him the most.
Restaurant Manager Marisol Piber
Marisol has been involved in Gastronomy since birth. Every single day and minute of her life has been surrounded with all things dealing with the business of eating and drinking. She follows in the footsteps of her Gastro father who has several Gastro concepts in Vienna and America. Marisol is an Interior Design graduates with a passion for Photography and Art, and of course all things culinary. She has been an important support in Mercado from day 1. She now she succeeds her father and is the person in charge at Mercado. She is also in charge of all Social Media activities.
Animation Coordinator Erick Zott
Another important element for Mercado will be the new entertainment program. We were able to get Erick Zott, a longtime connoisseur and insider of the Latin American scene in Vienna, to work with us on the implementation of the Latino lifestyle in Mercado. The name Erick Zott and Mario Castillo are synonymous for bringing the Latin American Bar feeling to Vienna. His "Havana Nights" at Palais Eschenbach are legendary. Erick will regularly bring live acts, DJs and Latin American art presentations to Mercado.
